When the time I decided to go for this Gunung Besar Hantu, it seem like my heart already have a special kind of “ mysterious” soul that contact me with the Mountain, especially I’m gonna visit the beautiful and yet spectacular and very high up waterfall, The Lata Kijang waterfall again. I might say that this is one of my favorite waterfall, and really so happy that I finally can visit him again and also the Big Ghost and small Ghost mountain, in which I totally didn’t visit them since my last visit, that’s about 8 years ago. And I was wondering is it that they are still the same? Is it the small ghost face still look very sad? And what about the Lata Kijang waterfall, is it still that spectacular kind of look? This is the answer that which I try to find out again.
I had a sleepless night on Saturday, sometime I just hate it why I always got sleepless night when I know that I’m gonna go trekking again next day, haha! May be am totally too excited and can’t wait for the 1st sunlight to appear or can’t wait for the Alarm clock to wake me up or may be is it because I’m afraid that I might over slept and missed out this opportunity to become a part of the nature friend…….
We supposed to start at 6am but due to a member being a bit late, so we decided to change our waiting location to the Hulu Langat T junction coffee shop, as we can have our breakfast and at the same time waiting for our member to join us there.
So, after our breakfast and packed our pack lunch, then we start our day trip journey at 8.30am. Meng, Blk Panther(Keong) and Foong are riding motorbikes and Brother C.Keong and me are follow with Brother C.Keong car. We parked at the road side at the Junction to Kampung Esok, after the junction, we will turned in to offroad trail that which the condition of the road is not suitable for private car. So, the 5 of us in 3 motorbikes, head all the way to our destination, the end of the road of Lata Kijang waterfall. The road condition at the front part is still consider OK but later it became more excited especially when we came to a part that which the road totally collapsed that forced us to use the newly build up bamboo bridge that which really look a bit like unstable and……….dangerous, but we got no choice that we had to cross it very carefully and hope that the bamboo will not just simply spread out and stuck the motor wheel while we cross it. Lucky nothing happen and then we kept on our “oohh, ahhh, aiyo aiyo,” way again till we reach the parking area, the end of the road.
That’s a concrete staircase with handrail lead down to the Rest Station next to the waterfall, and further up, there’s a toilet house and a metal staircase lead down to the river part. The place is still consider quite clean, only with a little bit of rubbish that I can see it on the floor, may be this waterfall located too far away and the road condition also make it not easy to reach, so that ‘s may be the reason this place still look great and clean, oh….Thank you god!!!!!
The waterfall...Lata Kijang waterfall, ohhh!!!! I really don’t know how to describe it except that I only can tell you that if you want to feel and see a quite unique kind of waterfall, you need to come here and see it for yourself, I don’t think words can describe how the feeling that I felt when I finally see it again after 8 years time passed by. The happiness face of every members of us show and already described how the way I’m, feeling at that moment. Please, if you have time, pay this waterfall a visit, and if ok, spend a night here to enjoy the great great moment of the fall and wind that keep on blowing from the waterfall, is really worth it, don’t trust me,,,, seeing is believing, see for yourself.
When the time I saw the old metal staircase at the opposite of the river, I almost want to shout it out cause this staircase is quite famous for those who want to trek up Gunung Besar Hantu, because this staircase is longer than the staircase of Batu Caves, which this one got 341 steps and Batu caves only got 272 steps. Imagine, stepping on this staircase and walk all the way up for 341 steps in the totally nature surrounding, emmmmm, what a great feel………
After the staircase, that’s a trail that lead all the way up till a t junction that which on the right hand side (compass bearing at 240*) is a trail back to the motorway(half hour) , and while the one on the left hand side ( compass bearing at 50*) is the trail that lead to Gunung Hantu Besar. And from here, we wrongly took the one on the right hand side one, and walked all the way back to the motorway then only realized that we ( actually I make a mistake, sorry gang) took the wrong trail and then had to walk back up to the T junction again. We wasted about 45 minutes because of my mistake, but is still ok, we still got time to trek up the mountain. So, we follow the trail all the way till we came to a small river, which is the 1st campsite and then took the trail on the right hand side and start to trekked inside of the real jungle trail.
Some part of this trail, that’s some wild orchid blooming at the side of the trail, and this make it quite nice as feel like they are happy that somebody came all the way to visit them, so they show their most beautiful side of themselves……..
We met a very big group of trekkers which about 40 of them on the way to Orchid campsite and they all spent a night at the campsite. We reached Orchid campsite around 2.20pm and decided to have our packed lunch there, cause this campsite is a very beautiful and yet a very flat area for setting up the tent. After the lunch, we started to trek up again but Brother C. Keong prefer to stay at this beautiful surrounding area as he was worry that it might cause him leg problem if he insist on going up and then might make it difficult for everybody if he got leg cramp, anyway, he will take a nice long nap while waiting for us ( when I’m back, he told me he got 2 dreams leh!!!) . The trail start from Orchid campsite which need 1 hour to reach the top, is all the way up with some part almost 80 degrees slope up and some part are quite slippery too. We reached the top of Gunung Besar Hantu less than an hour and I was so surprised to see that the top area was being totally destroyed in order as try to make a bigger campsite with those 90% of the trees being chopped down and this is just happen in a week or may be just a few days ago as we found out that the cut area of branches is still consider new. And another thing which surprised me is the Metal Triangle stand that which being totally “ unplugged” from the base and throw it at one side of the corner area. Is it this is the way to do with these kind of unprotected nature life? Peoples come into their territory, and then acted like a barbarian and destroyed everything just because they need some extra space to put their tent, so that they can sleep nicely without realized that how terribly they destroyed the nature, the earth. I feel shame to those who do this kind of thing and am 100% sure that this kind of persons are absolutely not being welcome into the nature……. They better stay in their safe and comfortable concrete bird cage.
We change our mind which we actually want to trek to Gunung hantu kecil, which probably need 45minutes by running and that’s mean 1.5hours for a return trip back to the top. We cancelled because we run out of time and then decided we will do it next time when we come again to do our camping trip at the top on this mountain. The wind keep on blowing since the time we reached the top and we had hot 3 in 1 coffee and then took a short nap as the wind are so inviting and the air so fresh that exactly good for a short nap. But after almost an hour, we felt our body getting cold as we all are topless and then decided to go down after the group photos shoot.
We met up with Brother C.Keong again at orchid campsite and then after packed everything, head back to where we start. And reached the waterfall again around 6.30pm. Having our cold shower and great moment and of cause photo shooting again and then finally back to the parking and then headed back to where we park our car and went for our late dinner at an vegetarian food stall to fill up our “kulukulu” empty stomach…………………… and then on our separated way around 11pm……….
