Roadtrip to Outback - Part 1
Country: Australia
Posted by: MaeZy

We slept with dingoes. We slept in bushes with no man around in the radius of few thousands kilometers. That’s our road trekking experience to the Australian Outback.

We joined a tour with Heading Bush. This is not an inexpensive tour. The total journey was about 3,000kms. We slept in swags, under billions of stars, millions of mosquitoes, snakes (Australia has 10 out of 12 most poisonous snakes in the world), dust, heat (40c), no shower, travelled in a crowded old jeep, on bumpy unsealed road.....with 10 of us plus...

The sun was shining brightly and I could hear the birds singing cheerfully. I was hoping the good weather will last throughout my hike, but of course that was not to be....

Last weekend my friends and I decided to hike up the Lyle Cherry Orchard, which is located in the Columbia Hills, east of a small town called Lyle. We have heard that a lot of the beautiful vista on this hike and thought it is about time we see it for ourselves.

It was a beautiful day, perfect for the hike. The sun was bright and glorious. We started by crossing a fence on the wooden ladder and climbing steeply uphill for about 500 feet, through oak forest but the...
